After School Enrichment Classes for ECNS Fours & Fives
Emergent Math Session II
Emergent Math encourages your child’s mathematical abilities. A variety of fun-filled activities will develop skills like number recognition classification, categorization, sequencing and beginning addition and subtractions. Manipulatives, games and other materials will be used to develop abstract and concrete thinking. Emergent Math will be taught by certified ECNS teachers, lead by 4/5’s Head Teacher Meredith Harney. It will be offered on Tuesdays from 12:30-1:30pm. Send your child with lunch and ECNS staff will sit with the children and escort them to class.
Emergent Reading Session II
Emergent Reading encourages literacy skills in the preschooler. A variety of interesting activities will develop skills like letter recognition, story comprehension and sequencing using both phonics and whole language techniques. We will use dramatic play, games and individualized instruction to strengthen your child’s literacy development in the pre-reading stage. Emergent Reading will be taught by certified ECNS teachers, lead by 4’s Head Teacher Liza Akeret. It will be offered Fridays from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Send your child with lunch and ECNS staff will sit with the children and escort them to class.
After School Enrichment Classes for ECNS Threes
Sequencing Session II
In preparation for a sound foundation in active learning, we have designed a class for Threes that is half skill work in the classroom and half physical activity. It will be offered on Thursdays from 12:30-1:30pm throughout the school year. Your child brings a lunch, which the teachers will eat with them from 12-12:30pm, and then moves on to the Sequencing classwork.
This class is the precursor to the Emergent Reading and Emergent Math classes, which the Fours take. We feel it is important to help organize our children’s minds in preparation for the 4 year-old classroom content. We know your child will find this class fun and stimulating.
